Updates
- 2023-10-24 - Garmin has removed the Trick or Treat badges this year.
Interesting! 😋
ReplyDeleteFor the time based challenges I wonder if my short commute to work will count. I have only a six minute bike ride to work, these don't normally count as activities because they are less than 20 minutes long.
ReplyDeleteThere is no time limit on the activities for them to count. All counts.
DeleteThe only challenge that requires at least 20 minute long activities is Active October.
Thanks for the swift reply, and the good work with the blog. Checking each month :)
DeleteI do not see time to ride and time to run badges anymore. Are they not available?
ReplyDeleteIf any of the October challenges are left, then few of the accepted challenges are not visible. Could this be a bug? I actually do not see monthly steps challenge anymore.
DeleteCheck Garmin Connect Web. It usually always works. The apps can have issues. Make sure you've updated the app.
DeleteDoes anyone else feel they mixed up the names with the sleep badges? Like for the walk and run streak, they are both streaks, but the sleep steak is for the 7 days and sleep savant is for the eery day for 30 days, like the other streaks... plus savant means expert so it feels like they mixed up the names XD doesn't really matter but makes me chuckle
ReplyDeleteI completely agree!
DeleteHi, does the "change location" trick still work? I changed my location to Korea, did an activity and earned the "Hangul Day" badge. But it disappeared again as soon as I set my location back to my real location.
ReplyDeleteYes. It works. Note that after you've changed back the country you cannot touch the activity and make any changes at all to it.
DeleteSo, change country again. Do an edit to the activity to get the badge back.
Is this badge repeatable?
DeleteNo, it isn't repeatable. All repeatable badges got a label with the text repeatable. I also write it in the description above, but I see that I missed that for the Trick or Treat badges. Will add that now.
DeleteThank you. I am not sure if I edited that first activity or not. Maybe I did. I did not touch it this time and the badges stayed when I changed back my location. :)
DeleteSo, this way I can get all 4 trick or treat badges if I do 4 activities on Halloween (that is not that hard!) and change location on 3 of them? Is that correct?
DeleteBTW: What an excellent blog! A pity I only recently discovered it :)
@Tanya. Exactly. That is how I do it. I do 4 activities and if I remember I switch country between each, but it can also be done afterwards by doing updates to the activities.
DeleteHow exactly do you change location in the garmin app? Having trouble figuring that out
Delete@Miriwelch. You don't do it in the app. There is a link somewhere in the app that will take you to your Garmin account, but it is faster to just go to https://www.garmin.com/account/profile/
Delete@Miriwelch, just click on your profile pic on the app and click Edit on top right. Then click on Manage Garmin Account and there you could change the country setting.
DeleteMy location is Korea in my profile setting but I'm unable to get the badge :(
Delete@Nuritdin. Maybe you already got it. Do you see it as available?
DeleteIt isn't too late to get it after yesterday. Just do an edit to the activity on the correct date.
it did not work. My location was Korea for past 1 week until today and i did not get any badge :(
DeleteLooking at the September activities, the badges of the 17th and 24th have disappeared, but if I change country on the same day will I lose the badges acquired?
Delete@Roberto. The badges will stay as long as you don't do any edits to the logged activities that awarded you with the badges. If you lose a badge then just change country again and do an edit to the activity and you will get the badge back.

ReplyDeleteHej e7andy. Jak zdobyć odznakę nurkowania?
DeleteLog an activity as anything you want. Then change the type in Garmin Connect.
DeleteGarmin Marathon badges and Garmin Run badges are received only if the race or run is made in the country that it is hosted, right? I can see the badge for marathon race without changing the country.
ReplyDeleteThe Garmin KC badges require that you run the race course at the correct location in Kansas City, Missouri.
DeleteThe Garmin Run badges require that you change country to Malaysia and Thailand, but you can run anywhere in the world...probably. We will know on race day.
does anyone have tcx for KC Marathon?
ReplyDeleteI didn't get Garmin Run Malaysia badge. Country setting correctly set, recorded 15 km treadmill activity, did not edit the activity. Still I didn't get any badge. Do I have to run exactly 5 km or 10 km to get the badge?
ReplyDeleteDo a test and edit the distance to just over 10 km and see what happens.
DeleteNope, that didn't work. I guess the activity should be performed in the country that's hosting.
DeleteMaybe it's due to the treadmill activity; I ran 5km yesterday and received the badge.
DeleteNa bieżni odznaka nie działa. Sprawdzone. Musi być bieg po GPS.
DeleteAren't there any trick or treat badges this year? I don't see them under available badges!
ReplyDeleteGarmin removed them this year.
DeleteBonjour e7andy
Merci.
@Sylvain. Change the country to Thailand and make sure you see the badge as available. Then do an outdoor run of at least 10 km. Don't run too far. I ran 11 km and it worked.
DeleteOk merci pour ta réponse rapide.
ReplyDeleteSi j'ai bien compris, cela ne fonctionne pas si l'on modifie l'activité. Ex: courir 2km et modifier en 11km.
I haven't tested it. It usually works to edit the distance to get the badges.
DeleteAndy, did they kill the repeatable Trick or Treat badge? I've completed 2 activities so far and only earned the 2023 Halloween badge. Just wondering if there are special requirements for the Trick or Treat badge now, or of it's beem decommissioned.
ReplyDeleteThe Trick or Treat badges are not available this year.
