Update 2020-12-28:
Garmin hasn't made the yoga challenge "2020 Wind Down" available yet and I don't think it will be available. Maybe they forgot it or had some issues with the challenge.
I've updated the site garminbadges.com with a new label on the unavailable badges so no one will think that they are available until they really are.

  1. Me and my girlfriend joined the December Walking Challange (1-31 Challenge - December Walking, Record 30 miles of walking activities in December). We go for morning walks and record them with as a Walk activity.

My Fenix 6x Pro add the walks to the progress of the challenge but my girlfriends Forerunner 45s does not.. We've done previous challenges together with no problems and the current December Running works just fine for running activities. Things we've tried so far are:

    Things that didn't work:
    - Edit past activity and save.
    - Leave and re-join the challenge.
    - Update watch.
    - Set all privacy settings to viewable for everyone.

    Things that work:
    - Manually create a walking activity on the Garmin Connect app.

Anyone with some insight or a solution for this problem?

    1. Check the activity type for her activity. It must be Walking or one of the sub activities: Casual or Speed walking. Hiking will not work.
It is irrelevant what the activity profile is called in her watch. What matters is the resulting type reported in Garmin Connect.

    2. Wow, thank you for the very fast response :D

I compared her activity with my own and they are both set to walking in the app. I also tried to change hers into something else, save, then return it to walking with no results.

      Any other ideas?

    3. A test could be to export your walk and import it into your girlfriend's account. Go to the activity in Garmin Connect Web, click the cog wheel in upper right corner and Export original. Then import it into her account https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data

    4. Exporting the activity from my account and importing it into hers makes the progress bar of the challenge to progress.

Exporting her own activity, deleting it from garmin connect, and re-import it does not add to the progress bar.

    5. Then there must be something odd with the activity she recorded. Hard to tell without looking at the activity or file.
If you like to I can check it out. Mail the file to: info@garminbadges.com

    6. We'll do another walk in the morning, if we get the same result I'll send them over. Thanks for the support :) Either way I'll get back to you.

    7. Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I tried a bunch of different things and I don't know what made it tick but it is now working as intended. Thanks anyway for your help regarding my issue!

    8. Great that it works now. It isn't always easy to understand what fixes issues with these systems.

    1. I saw them yesterday but it was too late at night for me to write anything about them. I will do that today. Very interesting new ideas from Garmin.

    2. Curious where you see new badges. Is there a feed or API I could pull them from?

  5. Hi Svar, I did a 50km ride on Sat 12 Dec hoping for the December Weekend 40k badge, the challenge took forever to collect the data, but at the end it expired without me earning the badge. I have the cycling activity correctly logged in connect, but the challenge seemed to miss it. Any explanation? Thanks in advance.

    1. If everything is correct you will get the badge right after you synced the activity.
If you had joined the challenge before the activity and the activity was logged on a Garmin device you should be awarded with the badge. Report it to Garmin Support.

    2. and if I joined the challenge on Saturday 12th but right after i synced my activity (i think that's what happened)? I thought it's enough to join the challenge before it ends and all the activities from the given period are taken into account. At least that's how it used to work. By the way, thanks for very quick anwers.

    3. You must join before the activity. If you join afterwards you must make an edit to the activity to make it processed again. You can test to do an edit now and see if it works.

  6. Finally a swimming challenge. Great news. Hope for some more the following months.

  7. Has the yoga 2020 wind down badge appeared for anyone yet? I can't see it on mine.

    1. It will be hard for Garmin to enable that challenge afterwards since only activities performed after you joined will count. A trick is to make an edit to the old activity and it will count, but not many users know that so it will render a huge amount of support cases. It will not be worth it for Garmin.
The yoga badge challenge isn't officially known by the users so Garmin can just ignore to make it available.

    2. Thanks for the update. Makes you wonder what their motive is for not making it available as planned.

    3. I was wondering if the yoga wind down badge was country dependent as I haven't seen it yet either.

  9. Have you noticed that "Challenge Champ" is now limited to 250?
Mine still shows 453, so I guess the people who had more get "grandfathered in"

    1. Yes. I guess that people with more than 250 wins just don't get any more Challenge Champ badges.
