New badges for GroupRides on Edge devices


Garmin has added 5 new badges for GroupRides. 

  • Let’s Ride, Record your first GroupRide cycling activity.
  • Together We Ride, Record 10 GroupRide cycling activities.
  • Group Effort, Record 25 GroupRide cycling activities.
  • Cyclo Squad, Record 100 GroupRide cycling activities.
  • In the Peloton, Record 200 GroupRide cycling activities.
You need an Edge 540, 840, 1040, 1050 or Explore 2 and have to be at least two riders to get the GroupRide badges.

I currently don't see any workaround for devices that don't support the GroupRide feature.

    I created a GroupRide on my Edge 1040 and did a bike ride, badge was not assigned

    Let‘s see what the next software update for the Edge 1040 will be. GroupRide awards and climb competitions will probably be added, among other things.

    Hey Andy es gibt glaube neue Badges Run Like the Best habe ich grade in Connect gesehen die sind vom 26.7 bis 11.8 denk mal hat was mit Olympia zu tun

    I updated the firmware on the Edge 1040 Solar to (beta 24.03) and did a bike ride, badge was not assigned. Later, I created another GroupRide and added a friend, after the ride we were assigned a badge.
    Conclusion, it is impossible to get this badge alone without a partner.

      I want to study the FIT file to see if there is a bit-field for Group Ride. I have an edge but I can't create a Group Ride unless I have a connection with an Edge Computer (and I don't know anyone).

      Confirmed not bit-field in the FIT so you do need 2 edge computers to get the badges. Zippo: when you added your friend, did he/she do the ride or just you?

      I haven't tested the requirements yet since I don't have access to a supported device.
      In the Garmin page about GroupRides I don't see that you have to be at least two riders to do a GroupRide.

      I tried to group ride alone yesterday on my new Edge, but no success yet. As per post above from Zippo and Bruno51 it should be two riders, right?. If any good input still, pls post here ;)

      so it worked with two and shared Group ride code even beeing in different locations. Anders, I believe you need to update the text in description: “I believe you can do the GroupRides on your own so you don't have to actually ride in a group.”

Five new badges are here. Garmin accidentally added them in September but they were quickly removed. In September there were 13 badges so we will probably soon see even more badges added. Garmin has added a new activity type "Dance Fitness" in the Gym & Fitness Equipment category so you can switch to that for all your dance fitness activities. I don't see the new type in Garmin Connect app on Android so it will need to come in an update. In the web it is already there. To add songs for the Mixtape badge you press the lap button. Each lap will add another song. Until we get Dance Fitness on the watches you can log with Cardio and press lap for each song.
