Dance Fitness has arrived

Five new badges are here. Garmin accidentally added them in September but they were quickly removed. In September there were 13 badges so we will probably soon see even more badges added.
Garmin has added a new activity type "Dance Fitness" in the Gym & Fitness Equipment category so you can switch to that for all your dance fitness activities.
I don't see the new type in Garmin Connect app on Android so it will need to come in an update. In the web it is already there.
To add songs for the Mixtape badge you press the lap button. Each lap will add another song.
Until we get Dance Fitness on the watches you can log with Cardio and press lap for each song. After save and sync you switch activity type in Garmin Connect to Dance Fitness.

  2. I am seeing them now in the Android app (didn't find the World Dance Day one, but found the other 4).

  3. I just did a Dance activity (FitXR Dance workouts) and did 17 songs. I got the Jazz Hands badge but no Mixtape. However, what is interesting is that although Garmin shows there are 17 songs, the Dance Time shows as zero for all of them. Strava shows the Laps broken out with the time for each one. Wondering if we will need to wait for it to be added to watches to have song length tracked correctly.

Of course, I guess it might be that there is another reason I didn't get the Mixtape badge. Would be curious if/when others try it (prior to getting the activity option on watch).

    1. You must do exactly 15 songs to get Mixtape.

    2. Wow... very specific. Good to know, thanks Andy!

    3. Hi Andy - for 15 songs is that 14 presses of lap or 15?

    4. @dmmac. You do 14 lap button press. The 15th lap will be when you stop the activity.

  4. Hi,
What kind of activity I would chose in my Instinc2x to do this dance fitness?
    Thank so much!!

    1. Any will work since you will change it afterwards in Garmin Connect, but Cardio is probably the most correct.

  5. Good evening. I tried to do a "Cardio" activity with Forerunner 935 to get the "Jazzhands" badge but I don't get the badge. I tried changing the activity from Connect to "gym and fitness equipment" but no luck. Maybe some badges need to have music on the device?

    1. You need to change the recorded activity to "Dance activity" to receive the Jazz badge.

    2. Thank you for your response. Among all sports/activities, "dance activity" is not listed. We will wait

    3. You have to change it via Garmin Connect web. App doesn't have dance activity as yet.

    4. Thank you for the information. I have lost so many badges because I only use the device for running, walking and weight training. Only now comparing with you I find that I can take badges pilates, breathing etc
I am now trying to unlock this.
It looks like the Super Mario World game when you had to find the keys to access the secret worlds 😂😂

    5. There are many such badges which you could achieve. What did you mean by comparing with me? How did you see my badges?

    6. Perhaps the translator mistranslated. Thanks to your help/contribution/support. This is what I wanted to say. 🙏

  6. It would be nice to create a 50-100 thousand step badge in one session without interruptions to be won in a challenge. Is there any way to make this request to Garmin?

Could you tell me something about this badge? I have performed 10 activities but have not received anything.
    Also.

Also performed this but again no badge was issued 🤷

    1. There are no badges named Elliptical 10 or 8-track. Not yet at least. They were announced a long time ago, but haven't been published.

    1. Probably not in the first generation model. Doesn't matter much. Just log it as Cardio and then change it to Dance Fitness in Connect.
