    1. Yes. I missed that. 15 hours of walking and also 4 hours of swimming. A bit odd to have two swimming badges that overlap that much. And the 15 hours of walking overlap with the Marvel badge for this month.

    2. Sorry, I accidently deleted my post.. Great to see cycling 200km back to two weeks, 15hours walking a new style challenge, personally I like time based challenges, and it would interesting to see if 30 for 30 is repeatable.

    4. Yes, the 30 for 30 and the SleepStreak are repeatable. I cannot believe the Sleep Streak is worth 4 points, but the quarterly 300k running badge is worth 2 points.

  2. That's a lot of swimming! I go on 20mins for 1km - so 12km for the month.

    1. 4k is one 75min or 90min session for the average club swimmer. As someone who rides, runs and cycles at roughly the even levels, my observation is that there are a lot of easily achievable and repeatable cycling badges (i.e. I'm getting approx 10 points a month). There running badges are slightly harder, but by the time you factor in the step goals that come with I'm also hitting 10 points a month. There are hardly any swimming badges, I usually earn the only 2 points available in the first swim of the month.

  3. What's a sleep score? My device tracks sleep but I don't see anything about a sleep score. Any ideas?

    1. Not all watches support sleep score. Check here https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=DWcdBazhr097VgqFufsTk8

  4. Is it possible to obtain Indonesia or Taipei run badges being in UK?

    1. We will not know for sure until the date for the race. Some similar badges have been possible to get by just changing country, but some of them have not. I suggest you plan for running on those days just in case.

  5. Would be nice if they added an Ultimate Ultimate badge if you completed all 3 ultimate badges

  6. Wow 1 point for 15h of walking activities... That's some bad points/time conversion 😁

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. agree! is like 30 minutes daily! for 1 point? come on...

      Delete
    2. 15hrs of walking = 30 mins a day and ties in nicely with the new 30 for 30 badge, maybe not a coincidence.

      Delete
    3. At the pace I have been walking, this would be about 45 miles instead of the usual 30. I guess I can slow down then, wow, no one has ever said 'you are too fast' to me before!

      Delete
    4. And 4 points for just sleeping

      Delete
  7. I don't see the 30/30 badge and co already. Is it just me or do me have to wait a bit?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There are some badges still missing in Garmin Connect. Wait a bit longer.

  8. How many points for the new badges (Challenge badge badge challenge)?

  9. I can't see the 6 new badges. How to join those challenges?

    1. They are not released yet and will not be challenges.

  10. New badges are up in the UK. 1 pt Sleep Savant, 2pts, repeatable, for 30 for 30. 4pts each for the others,

    1. Edit, both Sleep badges are now repeatable as well, I think I happened to access Connect as Garmin were uploading the badges.

  11. I think ym sleep savant and 30 for 30 aren't recording properly. Made sure I did 30 mins yesterday and today, still showing on 0 out of 30 days.sleep savant says 2 out of 30, but I didn't wear my watch the first night so not sure what's happened there!

    1. All three are working for me. The activity must be at least 30 minutes. Not split into multiple.

      Delete
    2. Yeah the were 30 mins per activity. But it seems to have sorted itself! Although only 30 sleep badge is showing not 7 days. And weirdly I could get there Merkeda Day badge even after I changed country. I've got it for 2022, but it's not seeming to work for 2023. My garmin must be bugging

      Delete
    3. Merdeka day is not repeatable.

    4. Oh! That makes sense! 😅 thanks for your help

    1. It is still unknown. It might work by just changing the country and doing the required distance...or you have to be in the country and do the distance. We will know on the race date.

  13. There is something wrong in "Ahead count" take a look:

    September Step Month
    97441.00 202559 17441 1.7 8806.91 32.48% 23 17 2023-09-25 2023-09-01 2023-09-30 300000.00 steps 2

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 300k steps in 30 days is 10k/day. Today you should be at 80k steps to be on track. You got 97441 steps which is 17441 steps ahead which is 17441/10000 = 1.74 days ahead and rounded to 1.7.

According to that it is correct.

      Delete
  14. But that's 1.7 days ahead of the past 8 days. Continuing in this way, at the end of the month I would be ahead by 6 days, which is well before the end, despite this, calculating only 1.7 days which is less than 2, the record is yellow as if I had to pay attention because I risk not reaching the objective which is not true.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you continue doing that many steps more each day you will reach the goal in 17 days on 2023-09-25 as written in the predicted finish day and date columns. That column shows that you are 6 days ahead, but only if you continue with doing the same number of steps on average.
The ahead days will only show how many days you are ahead now. Not how many days you will be ahead if you continue doing that many steps more.

      Delete
    2. I understood, thanks. But I think that the alert color should be based on the days expected for completion rather than on the days that have passed. I always look at the colors which I find very useful to understand if I have fallen behind on some challenge. In this case I saw yellow despite being well in line to reach the goal.

      Delete
    3. Step challenges are a bit special since you always will take steps and it is hard to fail big. Compare it with the challenges that require logged activities. You need to log activities to make progress and must be aware of that you are falling behind. You will not automatically run, bike and do yoga and probably not do them every day as you do with steps.
All challenges are calculated in the same way so it might be a little odd for the ones with steps. It will also look more odd in the beginning of the month. Everything will be yellow even if you are doing good progress. Tomorrow the yellow will be gone for you.

I've thought about factor in the number of days left into the calculations since being one day ahead with 30 days left is great, but it will still be in yellow.
Adding too many factors can lead to errors. It is better to keep it simple. Maybe in a future version it will change or maybe be customizable.

  16. "Sleep savant" badge is probably a joke. If the sleep parameters aren't logged correctly, then I lose the badge or at least lose on the consecutive days.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm finding that one difficult too! I managed 3 days in a row then slipped to 72 and 71 and lost it. It's kind of hard to control the quality of you sleep to that level :D I thin kit will be a badge you get by chance

      Delete
    2. It's the algorithm that's used to detect sleep and evaluate it. That's faulty. It's like you should get at least an hour of REM sleep if you should have a good sleep score. I'm sure everybody has REM sleep, but the watch has to detect it. That's where the algorithm comes to picture!

      Delete
    3. True! I've always kind of doubted it's ability to detect different sleep stages. Breathing and heart rate are only part of it, unless the watch can detect brain waves I don't think it can truly tell if I'm in REM or not!

      Delete
    4. I have the badge now, but I think it's weird it's repeatable. So many points for something you have so little control over

  17. Hi Andy and his community :) Hope you had a nice and sporty summer y'all! If I run 10km for the Garmin Run 2023 - Taipei, I'll only have 1 point for the 10km and not 2 points for the 5km + the 10km right? Just to be sure. (I'll run only 5km I think hihi)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes. That is how it usually works. It looks like you don't have to run in Taipei. The description doesn't say anything about that.

      Delete
    2. Did anyone get the Garmin Run badge? I changed the country to Taiwan but didn't get the badge.

      Delete
    3. I changed country to Taiwan, ran 5km and got the badge

      Delete
    4. @Sunil. First make sure you see the badges as available. Then log a run of at least 5 km or do an edit to such a run that you logged today.

      Delete
    5. I see the badges when I change the country. I changed the activity to 5km run which I had recorded earlier and saved the edited activity after changing the country settings. Wouldn't this work?

I cannot run again today :o

      Delete
    6. If the activity is logged with a Garmin watch and at least 5 km it should work.

      Delete
    7. It was a treadmill activity, does it make a difference?

      Delete
    8. It shouldn't imo, but test and see if you get it if you change type.

      Delete
    9. Hello! How to change country correctly? I've change to Taiwan - no new competitions (badgets) for this country. I've tried to use VPN - but no success..... what's wrong?🤷‍♂️

      Delete
    10. You change country here: https://www.garmin.com/account/profile
The badges for the Taipei runs were yesterday. They will not shown today.

      Delete
    11. Thanks! done there... but I don't see Sept 29 - 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival 💁‍♂️

    12. Try Indonesia and see if you see the Indonesian badges that are available on Sunday.

    13. I've changed country many times from Taiwan to Indonesia and back.. changed my language to Indonesian and English.... login/logout on phone/notebook, tried incognito mode but the same - no available badge for Indonesian or Fest happy day at 29 Sept. No lucky day 😪 P.S. maybe I need try to clear cookies... or reinstall widows or something else 😂

      Delete
    14. So, when you go to this page https://www.garmin.com/account/profile you see that you've selected to Taiwan or Indonesia, right?

And you are looking at the badges here and switching to the list of available badges? https://connect.garmin.com/modern/badges
      They are not challenges.

      Delete
    15. Holly.... yeah I see now. many thanks Andy. so lets run it

  18. Yes, I earned two badges for two runs (5 and 10k).

  19. Hello, does anybody have a problem with the connect app and sleep? I recorded 6 consecutive days of sleep, everything worked fine, but last sleep data I can see are for Thursday. I have my Friday sleep data on my fenix 7 watch but they are not in the app (web or android). After sync I can see my yesterdays steps, run, yoga and also steps I currently have today, but no sleep for yesterday. Does anybody have the same issue?

  20. October badges are up. And looks like a whole lot of others added as well - like most of the other ones from the recent badge competition, but also some that weren't there?

    1. Thanks. Many new badges. I will write a new post about it. The Challenges are already available in Connect.
