  1. Now it's starting to get tight!
Currently, since the introduction of the challenge badges, I have actually mastered all available tasks (ok, not swimming last month, thanks to Corona), which sometimes required a bit more planning.
However, if more monthly challenges for HIIT and Pilates are added soon, it could start to get tight!
I don't want to endanger the peace in the family :-P

    1. Don't worry. The HIIT and Pilates badges aren't monthly challenges. You can take them whenever you like.

    2. Thanks for this, I just changed a 4 minute tabata to check it out!

  2. I don’t have a garmin activity setting for just HIIT, would it qualify under something else like cardio?

    1. You can use any other activity and then change the type in Garmin Connect to HIIT or Pilates.

    2. Thank you!

Any update on the E.T.A for these? It would be cool to start attacking them early this month.

    3. You don't have to take this month. You got lots of time to take them. I can't decide if I want to go for the full 200 this year or let them slip into the next year.
There are 213 days left of the year so it is possible with just one of each every day.

    1. Great! I've been checking every day since I found them.

  4. Pilates is no problem but I don't see a native Garmin HIIT activity on FR945,F6X, or VA4. Could a HIIT badge only be available without reassignment from another activity on the latest Venu watches? I mention this because apparently the new Venus offer HIIT videos.

    1. It is only Venu 2 that currently got HIIT as an activity type. For all other watches you will need to log it as an other activity type and then change it afterwards in Garmin Connect. I log it as strength and then change to HIIT.

  5. Thanks Andy, you have no doubt inspired a lot of Garmin badge hunters. Here’s hoping Garmin Corp. will someday compensate you for your contribution to Garmin sales.
Yes, I also earned the first HIIT badge yesterday recording as a strength activity and then converting. Glad I don’t own a Venu 2 – I’d feel compelled to work through the whole HIIT videos (I’m reluctant to cut timed activities short and barely had the patience to reach Deep Breathing 4).
How do you manage to accomplish all you do in a day? Doesn’t seem you are getting enough feedback on this blog yet, but your time commitment and accomplishment are most appreciated.

    1. Thank you!
I work as a software developer so I sit all day at a computer.
The hardest part is to get the time to go out running or biking. I got two kids and a full time job.
Almost every morning I'm out running or biking and sometimes also at the lunch break. It is a bit easier now when I work 100% from home due to the pandemic.

    1. This is not a criticism mate, and I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but in pursuit of badges I decided I had to make a ‘minimum acceptable’ amount of time for a workout. I decided on 20 minutes.

So any strength, yoga, HIIT etc I do must be at least that. Today’s rowing badge had to be a 20-min workout therefore. The only exception being the breathwork ones which are only 15.

I really feel like I’m cheating myself if I do a 4 minute workout and count it. That would be a 400m walk, or like 3 yoga poses.

    2. I know Tabata is intense so it’s a bit different, but still I’d push myself to stretch it to 20.

    3. Well, Tabata is a scientifically proven exercise. It has an effect with only 4 minute intervals. And pursuit of badges is not "cheating" but motivation. By the way doing 4 minute Tabata intensively, my Garmin watch records low aerobic load better than 30 minute walking. I will stick with science.

    4. Everything I read and hear tells me Tabata sets are 4 minutes long, but a workout consists of multiple sets, ie minimum 3 with a minute break so say 15 minutes. Yes it has an effect using 4 minute intervals but technically so will walking, just the effect is lesser. I'd also suggest you want your exercise to be of better value than merely about equivalent to 30 minutes of walking. Anyway, each to their own, your Garmin your way.

    5. Well, I actually use Tabata as recovery exercise. My real workouts are running 10-15к 3-4 times per week.

  7. I have recorded countless HiiT sessions using the Garmin HiiT activity on my watch and also a HiiT app I downloaded to my watch but it is still saying that I haven't earned the HiiT badge and I don't know how to get Garmin to recognise that I've done it.

    1. First check what activity type the activity is in Garmin Connect. It must be HIIT. Maybe it is registered as Other or Strength.

    1. FR935 doesn't support HIIT and pilates. You will have to log them as something else and then change the type for those activities in Garmin Connect. I would use Cardio or Strength for HIIT and Cardio or Yoga for pilates.

  9. I seem to have the same issue as Kelly.
I am definitely recording some HIIT sessions but they are not recognised by the badge. Any tip?

    1. There are two requirements. 1. Log with Garmin device. 2. Type must be HIIT.
Check that the type really is HIIT in Garmin Connect.
Post a link to an activity so I can have a look at it and maybe see something.
