Be a Hero and Garmin Blue Run badges

For about three weeks ago these three badges were announced and today the images came and also the metadata.

Be a Hero
1 pt • Record an activity on Hero's Day

The sun looks like the one on the flag of Philippines and the other flag has the colors of the Spanish flag. The Philippines fought against the Spanish during the revolution.

Update 2020-08-20
You probably don't have to signup for the races to get the badges. I've tested and was able to get the Garmin Blue Run 2019 badge without signing up.

  1. Heads-up: when you change your region to Philipines (just thought I'd try it) you can also see a badge called "Under a Full Moon" which is described as "1 pt - Record an activity on Mid-Autumn Festival". Google tells me this is celebrated on October 1st so I'm putting it on my list.

    1. You must do an activity tomorrow (August 31st) with the country set to Phillipines. Then you should get the badge. You should now see the badge under available badges.

    2. Hi!
I changed my country to the Phillipines last week and I still could not see the "Be a Hero" badge. I did an activity on the 31st and did not get the badge. It seems like not everybody can see it, I can only see the other two badges.
      Greetings from Austria!

    3. If you see the other two badges you have set the country to Thailand.

    4. When you change the country it can take some time. Sometimes you have to logout and login again.

  3. Just ran a sub 1hr 10km and changed country to Thailand and then edited. Didn't work :-(

    1. Don't run too far. It seems like you have to run pretty close to 10 km to be awarded with the badge. Over 11 km seems not to work. Edit the activity distance to close to 10 km and see if that works.

    2. Can confirm that trimming the activity within Connect will earn you the badge. The only question now: do you discard that hard-earned extra distance or try for another 10k run? ;)

    3. Yes it worked for me. Luckily only lost 900m on that run

    1. You can't do any edits at all to the activity that awarded the badge. Even a comment by trigger it to be evaluated again and if you have changed country it will be removed. So, change country to Philippines again and do an edit to the activity that awarded you with the Be a Hero badge and it should come back to you.

  5. "So,change country to Philippines again and do an edit to the activity that awarded you with the Be a Hero badge and it should come back to you"

Thx for the reply, but i dont understand some of it..

    1. So we cant change the country ever again so that the badge didnt lost? In this case, if i return back to Phillipines, the blue run Sub 1 badge (Thailand) will be gone?

    2. I didnt even edit anything on the activity which i was awarded the be a hero badge, only to change the country one day after it, so why its gone?

    3. Please give me a thorough step to return the badge please 🙏

    Many many thanks

    1. 1. You can change the country how many times you like, but you cannot do any edits to an activity that awarded you an badge for a country that you currently haven't set. If you edit a badge that requires a specific country you must have the correct country set. The edit might be that someone liked your activity. I don't exactly know what counts an edit, but it could be anything like getting likes, comments, change privacy setting etc.

      2. It shouldn't be gone just doing that. See above.

      3. Change country to Phillipines. Do an edit to the activity like adding 1 calorie or changing the title.

    2. After some testing. Comments and likes will not trigger an evaluation.
Notes and changing the privacy setting will.

  7. I think that the Garmin Blue Run 100K can be any number of runs and doesn't have to be one run. From their FB page : "Badge 100K. Running to accumulate 100 kilometers with no limit to the number of times you run. All activities must be completed in September and Garmin Connect location must be set to 'Thailand' only". Will let you know when I have 100km logged and see if I can get the badge.

    2. I got it today, 24th March 2021. Weird, isn't it?

    3. Yes. Weird. I've heard about other people also getting it very recently so something is going on. Maybe Garmin changed the requirement for the badge and that triggered something.
