  1. Is there missing a "October Time to Run" badge?

    1. Garmin changes the challenges slightly every month. It isn't available this month.

  2. Hi. To earn any of the run asia or hangoul or autumn festival, will it be enough for me to do the activity in the US? What is i use a mock location GPS app and put the GPS location in Asia and go run the half marathon here in the USA but at my watch to running on a treadmill? Will that work or do I need to do more?

    1. For Hangul and Mid-Autumn you only need to change the country in your Garmin account.
For the race badges you must run at the correct location.

      Delete
    2. Thank you. Do any of these Garmin events offer virtual runs?

      Delete
    3. Mid-Autumn Festival and Hangul should also be available for Connect+ users without any changes in the location. There is a "world-wide badges" in the settings

      Delete
    4. I changed my country to Republic of Korea and I do see the Mid-autumn badge, but not the Hangul badge. In which country do you really see the Hangul badge?

      Delete
    5. Hangul badge is not repeatable.

      Delete
    6. Ah... Any chance you can indicate this in the future? i.e add (R) or (1) after the badge name?

      Delete
    7. I can indicate if the badge is repeatable. This badge is the old Hangul badge we've had since it was added. It is the last non repeatable badge that comes back every year. All others have been ended by Garmin.
We only got two repeatable badges left: Finish Strong and Strong Start. Except for the 4 badges for Marvel and Star Wars.
What Garmin does is to add the year after the badges that are new and possible to take.

  3. Sort of, Look at the Garmin KC marathon site
    What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Best of all, your participant shirt and finisher medal will be shipped directly to you! Register for the Garmin Kansas City virtual 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon today!

Note that it still requires that you register, and probably pay the entrance fee.

Mvg, Rik Vandenhende

    1. You have to run the actual course in Vietnam. Changing the country got no effect on those badges.

    2. Das raar, er staat registreer een activiteit TIJDENS de Garmin run Asia en toch niet IN Vietnam

      Mvg, Vandenhende Rik

      Delete
    3. It is still a race badge. You are supposed to run the race. Send feedback to Garmin to be more clear in the descriptions.

    4. @ Vandenhende Rik

In a previous post I mentioned that you could Virtual run the KC marathon. Sometimes they will also post that you can do that for other marathons. You need to check. You need to register. You need to pay the entrance/registration fee before the race starts, even if you actually perform the race somewhere else in the world, i.e. Virtual raceing.

ALSO usually you can only WALK the 5k, sometimes the 10k but I have never seen a WALK allowed for the Marathon.

So I'm not suprised you did not get the badge.

    5. It doesn't matter for the badges if you register for the virtual race. It is unrelated.

      Delete
    6. I signed up for the KC half marathon virtual. I live in Florida. So you are saying I won't get the badge?

      Delete
    7. The sign up doesn't matter. It is the activity that you upload to Garmin Connect that must meet the requirements.

      Delete
    8. I do plan on running three half marathon distance. I sign up because I wanted the badge but would have run the distance anyway because it's my long day run and I'm training for a marathon. Yes I will get the shirt and the participation medal but i thought it would be cool to get the badge. Does anyone knows of anyone else that had been able to get this badge registering and running a virtual race?

  5. Naar waar stuur ik de feedback bij Garmin en het was geen WALK hé, het ging hier wel over een 5 - 10 - of 21 km run. Maar misschien weten ze het bij Garmin

    1. Not sure what you mean with 5, 10 or 21 km run and not a walk. Noone has said anything about a walk.

  6. Maybe Google's translator was wrong.
I got: "Dear, Andy I walked 22.6km on 05/10/25 and the country setting I had changed to Vietnam."

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. My Google Translate got "Hi Andy, I ran 22.6 km on October 5, 2025, and I changed the country setting to Vietnam."
It is probably still some incorrect translation somewhere in the discussion here.

  7. A.I. is bad enough, now we need to double check translations from the same company. Google.

Met vriendelijke groeten – Meilleures salutations – Best Regards.

Connect+ dat is betalend, als dit zo is, als ze het over deze boeg gaan gooien zullen er veel afhaken denk ik. 😕

  10. That doesn't cover Race badges.
And you can tell that was probably an A.I. response because they did not really answer the question you've been posting about.,

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They almost never answer the question, nor do show signs of comprehension. The only patters I see is that they copy&paste some text from the knowledge base that has the phrase in the first few words of the question. Of course, now that I think about it it could be AI, but frankly, AI does better than that nowadays, so I would still think it's mostly unmotivated employees

  11. Any one have any idea why the option to like someone else's activities seems to have disappeared sometime in September?

    2. Thanks Andy. It was through the web app I was having an issue. It seems to have come right now.

  12. I have done an activity today but haven´t got the Hangul Badge. Anyone else ??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. First make sure you see the badge listed as an available badge. If you don't see then you either already got it (it isn't repeatable) or you haven't set your account to the correct country (Korea, Republic of).
I tested it with a test account and got the badge so it is working.

      Delete
    2. Oh, havent seen that it is not repeatable. I allready got it. THX

  13. @Peder i was confused as well. @e7andy you right. I had a look on my badges achived so far. The Hangul Badge I already have ( received in 2023 during my walk activity). That is the reason why I couldn`t see it this year. Thanks for your help and made it clear. Not repeatable - 9th of October is day when we can have it.

  14. I was confused as well and looked at it . Once I checked my achived badges I recognised that I have it already.

  15. Just spotted an error with the stage 4 walking badge. The Garmin description says 92 miles but in Connect it shows me that I have currently completed 75.1 of 91 miles....so it seems it will take 1 mile less to complete that challenge, 91 instead of 92.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Interesting. For me it's 146.5km, I always assumed it's based on some whole number of miles, but now I'm not that sure. Not that this (or 1 mile less or more) matters that much

      Delete
    2. Ok so that's about 91 miles in km then. Agreed the mile / 1.6km makes no real difference really but just flagging the difference in description versus progress indicator.

  16. What doesn't make a lot of sense to me is that the October Time to Ride Badge and the October Tour Badge are both only worth 1 point. Those are a lot of work compared to the October Ride to 100 badge which is worth 2 points.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I guess that depends on who you ask. My 6 years old son sometimes manages to get the 20h ride badge (partially because his watch doesn't have auto pause) but not the 100km badge. In general I noticed that Garmin give more points for achievements in a shorter time frame.
