January 2023 - A new year with new badges and staged challenges!


Join the January challenges now in Garmin Connect.

We got the new staged challenges for 2023. Nothing new about them. Same as last year.
The Tour challenges continue with yet another 400 km per month.
What is more interesting are the new badges for events in Garmin Connect and three challenges in the Tacx app.

Three month challenges - Stage 1

The challenges are exactly the same as in 2022 so no surprises there.

2023 Cycling - Stage 1
Join this challenge and record 675 kilometers (419.43 miles) of cycling activities from January 1 to March 31.

2023 Walking - Stage 1
Join this challenge and record 91 miles (146.5 km) of walking activities from January 1 to March 31.

2023 Running - Stage 1
Join this challenge and record 300 kilometers (186.42 miles) of running activities from January 1 to March 31.

January Tour
Join this challenge and record 400 kilometers of cycling activities in January.

January Warrior
Join this challenge and record a total of four hours of yoga activities in January.

January Gains
Join this challenge and record a total of four hours of strength activities in January.

Join this challenge and record 300,000 steps in January.

Join this challenge and record 50 miles of running activities in January.

Join this challenge and record 20 activities of at least 20 minutes each in January.

    It looks like the January badges are already online and can be connected in the app, but I don't see the new ones related to events in Garmin Connect yet.

      Yes. All challenges are available. The new standard badges are not there yet.

    Hallo Andy, sind die Abzeichen für den 21.1 und 22.1 schon sichtbar? Chinesisches Neujahr und Jahr des Hasen. Die anderen 2 neuen sind ja glaube Standard, Datum festlegen und Mission erfüllt

      Nothing yet. Badges are usually released in the evening (for Europeans) and not on the weekends. I usually check every morning.

    Hi, I use Connect in a language other than English and the name of the challenge "January Tour" is not translated into my native language? Do you have the same?

      I use English. If it is a translation error you should report it to Garmin Support.

    Hallo Andy, sind die Abzeichen für Februar schon frei, bzw dürfte ja sicherlich bestimmt wieder das gleiche Programm sein wie der Januar oder gibt's da wieder etwas neues. Garmin ist doch bestimmt für Überraschungen gut.

    Zumindest diese 2 Valentinstag Abzeichen sind für Februar plötzlich weg, gibt's wohl auch neue mit dem Jahr 2023, na dann lassen wir uns überraschen was für Aufgaben morgen früh erscheinen.

    Feb challenges are up in Connect in the UK. No Valentines badges as yet. Usual sort of thing but cycling tour only gets 1point and it is the hardest cycling challenge.

Five new badges are here. Garmin accidentally added them in September but they were quickly removed. In September there were 13 badges so we will probably soon see even more badges added. Garmin has added a new activity type "Dance Fitness" in the Gym & Fitness Equipment category so you can switch to that for all your dance fitness activities. I don't see the new type in Garmin Connect app on Android so it will need to come in an update. In the web it is already there. To add songs for the Mixtape badge you press the lap button. Each lap will add another song. Until we get Dance Fitness on the watches you can log with Cardio and press lap for each song.
