Change country setting

Comments

  1. feature-request: can you add a new optional parameter to the calendar: country? When it's passed then it would only display the badges that you can achieve if you're anywhere in the world or in the given country. This would show badges without country, and I'd even would like to see those that can be achieved by setting the country in the profile, and for example if I'm in Mexico, then the Mexico half marathon, but it would exclude the German and Polish races, where I would only be able to get the badge if I'm physically there. (Advanced version: there could be 2 separate parameters, country: to set my physical country, and another one to tell in which context it should be used, i.e: country_filter={something} where {something} could be: 0: don't filter (this is the default), 1: filter out badges that need me to run the course in another country, 2: filter out the badges that need me to be in another country according to the account. And it could be possibly set to 3 (1 & 2), and in the future if there's a need, then the next value would be 4, 8, 16, ...)

    1. It will work for the badges that got a country requirement. Those race badges don't have that. To make that work I would need to add a new country function in parallel with the current one. One for country restriction and one for location.
It is a good idea, but I think the number of users that will use it are very limited and it will add a lot of extra work for me.
I think it is better to add a hide badge function. Then each user can hide badges that are of no interest. That will be a function that lots of users could find useful. For example if you don't use Tacx or don't dive or don't have a Marvel watch.

    2. Maybe the exclude feature would work, though I'm not sure what would the criteria need to be in this case. I myself do sometimes change the device type in fitfiletools.com, so even though I don't have Marvel watch I do want to see those. I guess everyone puts the red line somewhere (where is it cheating and where is it still OK). I saw in the past that it might be possible to run 5k somewhere and then change the fit file so it looks like it was on the specific course. To me it was a bit too much (maybe not as much ethically but technically), but I have no problem changing the device type or the country of my account. So if the exclude feature would somehow be also based on some king of "flag" that maybe exists in the badge xml that tells that you need to run a specific course, then I would not want to see them in the calendar. Of course this is still not the best for people that live in countries where there are sometimes relevant races, they would still need to be able to specify the country they are interested in...

    3. The idea is that you hide them one by one. Enter the "hide mode". Click the badges you want to hide. Using types to hide is not really needed since the number of badges are so few.
