The fact that the Connect+ challenges are the same as April is extremely disappointing. I would have thought they could have been creative with these each month. But seems they are just doing what they do with the regular badges and rolling out the exact same each month.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was really hoping to see a new way of adding and removing challenges each month to get at least some excitement.
DeleteOne very slight tweak is that the low stress badge is an average of 50 in May vs 75 in April. But agreed that it is disappointing for sure. I'm going to use my free trial from end of April to hopefully get the C+ badges from April and May without spending any money!
DeleteI totally agree, new badges would have been great!
ReplyDeleteI don't see the Move with strong. Do you still see it or was it removed? Or is it country based?
ReplyDeleteIt isn't added yet. It looks a bit weird. I was just googling it now. The S in Strong is a capital letter so it might be some 3rd party service called Strong that we should use.
DeleteI also don't see the Workers day and the Golden week in the calendar
ReplyDeleteThey are there. If you are using Google Calendar it will take some time to get the updated calendars. Not sure how often Google updates the calendar feeds. It might be something like every 12 hours.
DeleteHi. Can I connect Google Calendar with garmin so I see what challenges I have to make? Like for Workers Day, or Womens Day etc.?
DeleteNo, but you can use my calendars https://garminbadges.com/calendar/
DeleteThank you co much! :D
DeleteRegarding May Speed Walking. I find this very hard. I just did a walk of 5km with an average speed of 6.5km per hour and walked only 39% in zone 1. The rest below zone 1. Any tips to get into zone 2 during walking?
ReplyDeleteUse a chest strap HRM.
DeleteWhen I see the HR go below zone 2 I take a few running steps to get the HR up. I only breathe through nose to restrict air supply.
Thanks. I afraid I have to start running during walking to make it work. Maybe longer distances will help.
DeleteNasal breathing is something I always do. Even during cardio and HIIT on my elliptical in zone 3 and 4 and when I sometimes hit zone 5.
Would indoor walking on a treadmill with an incline of 15% also count when I reach zone 2?
btw: I am great full for afford you put in this website.
It will count as long as it is logged as the Walking type.
DeleteWhat I did was to check my User Profile on my device (watch) and corrected the overly high Max. Heart Rate and LTHR numbers. Then I adjusted the Zones percent ranges to increase the range of the wanted zone. Note that you can tailor specific settings for running, cycling, and swimming, but for walking and cardio you will have to change (for the time needed) the main Zone settings.
DeleteDepending on the watch you have you might have different HR zone profiles for different sports. For example mine has Running, Cycling, Swimmin, and the "general". So you could probably lower the zones for general, and I think that would be used for walking.
Deletewasn't expecting a "Kings day" badge today
ReplyDeleteJust want to say thank you for separating the connect+ and regular free badges. Really appreciate not having to check which is which and just see them straight away here :)
ReplyDeleteThe new badge today April 26th, is it reserved for subscribers?
ReplyDeleteYou have to set country to Netherlands to get it. If you got Connect+ you don't have to have change country.
DeleteYou change the country in your account here: https://www.garmin.com/account/profile
DeleteThanks! Are all foreign badges like this or do some require GPS?
DeleteBadges for races require that you are at the correct location. All others you can get by changing the country.
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe that will work, but I don't see the point in doing that. If you had ran it then it be more ok, but biking it...
DeleteTatsächlich wäre mir laufen auch viel lieber, wenn es eine Möglichkeit gibt einen gpx Track virtuell abzulaufen, würde ich das sofort machen, bin für Ideen offen ;)
DeleteOne way to do it could be to run a 5K run and then combine that with the GPX for the race. Take positions from the GPX and combine that with everything but the position data from the FIT file for your 5K.
DeleteCombine with: https://gotoes.org/strava/Combine_GPX_TCX_FIT_Files.php
Note that you must add timestamps to the course GPX before you can combine it with the run data: https://gotoes.org/strava/Add_Timestamps_To_GPX.php
Just a quick question - did anyone try to get the power cycling badge using the garmin speed and cadence sensors? or you really need a dedicated power meter. If this are not working are there any other alternatives in getting this badge?
ReplyDeleteYou must have some kind of power meter that logs power in the activity.
DeleteSpeed and cadence only logs speed and cadence. Nothing else.
I have the Tacx flow that measures power so it would probably work...but it sooo nice outside I don t want to spend 4 hours biking indoor this time of year :D
DeleteI know. It is sad to ride indoors when the sun is shining outdoors.
DeleteWhat I do is that when I work from home I put the bike and trainer under my height adjustable desk so I can get those hours while I'm working.
Non mi ha dato il badge del 1 maggio paese Italia sapete come mai?
ReplyDeleteDo you see the badge as available? That is required to get the badge.
DeleteThe countries listed are only based on previous years.
Auch in Deutschland heute kein Abzeichen erhalten
DeleteDouble check your country setting.
DeleteI got the badge with country set to Japan.
@e7andy: Danke
DeleteNote! The countries have changed. It works in Japan, but not in Germany or other European countries listed.
DeleteIt works in Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan. It might work in other countries that I haven't tested
Also works in Singapore. Has the POC 100km cycling badge disappeared for anyone else?
DeleteI've added Singapore to the list of countries.
DeleteI never saw POC 100 km cycling, but it was apparently added for a short time and then removed.
I have it available to me in Connect (country UK)
DeleteTo clarify POC 100km
DeleteI see it now. Not sure what is going on with that challenge.
DeleteI got the POC badge today after a 200km ride (in the UK).
